VERTIGO APP

PRODUCT / STRATEGY / UX / UI

BACKGROUND //
Seeing a need for a mobile mapping app for emergency responders, delivery drivers, or outside contractors to find specific apartments within complexes, Engrain decided to use their already established platform and mapping solution to create an app that would work for all use cases.

PROBLEM //
Create an easy-to-use app using Engrain’s mapping platform and backend that uses a searchable database of apartment complex maps and displays them with varying levels of fidelity based on tiered subscriptions.

STRATEGY & SOLUTION //
Working with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders we started with initial research into other mapping apps to determine current pain points. Continuing, I broke down the user’s journey and focused on the most important features that would have the most impact in the final app. We created user personas helping to inform decisions along the way. From here, I created priority matrices to compare the goals of the stakeholders and determine the most common and important focus points.

I sketched out a series of wireframes to propose some solutions based on the results gleaned from discovery. After getting feedback, I turned these into hi-fidelity wireframes, which allowed me to perform some preliminary paper prototyping and test hypotheses. Some additional tweaks were made and then I started on the initial designs, which I presented in a full working prototype using Sketch. After many iterations, due changing business goals and different constraints we finalized a design and I worked with our developers to start getting it built and deployed.
