Wildlife protection solution

PRODUCT / STRATEGY / ART DIRECTION / UX / UI

BACKGROUND //
Wildlife Protection Solutions (WPS)  is a non-profit that focuses on saving and protecting animals and ecosystems from poaching and other threats by using cameras, volunteers on the ground and abroad, different methods of public outreach, and through various technologies. They also work to inform the public about issues and updates to threatened wildlife, while working towards conservation efforts.

PROBLEM //
After getting the initial MVP field guide app deployed, WPS wanted to update the user experience and user interface to create a more friendly and easy-to-use app. Taking their initial learnings and expertise to create a top-tier field guide with amazing pictures and expert information about the animals and the current state of any conservation efforts.

WHERE WE STARTED //

STRATEGY & SOLUTION //
Starting with a limited budget but a very tight-nit employee and volunteer network, we were able to conduct detailed stakeholder interviews with all employees and a handful of volunteers. I led a few UX workshops, wireframing with the team, card sorting, and embedding myself with the WPS team. Taking all those learnings we started wireframing and the lengthy-process of working through their current issues and where they would love to end up with their field guide.

Working closely with the WPS team I was able to take their branding, wishes, and expertise and update and improve on their previous design. We created an app that delivers an educational experience wrapped in a more open and user-friendly app.
