My Process

My approach to design can be applied to many different types of projects, whether it is print, digital, or web. Starting with an open mind, looking at it from all angles, asking the right questions, and doing the work to get to the heart of the problem is the only way I find a successful solution can be created. Whether designing a full-scale interactive solution or a traditional print marketing piece, user experience drives every decision I make. By incorporating UX/UI design trends into a user-centric methodology, I conceptualize and launch unique ideas for interactive experiences, digital products, brand identity, and marketing campaigns, leading teams to execute these initiatives successfully.

LearN

When I get a new project, the most important part of the process begins: Learning about the problem. Instead of jumping right into solutions, I listen to the business goals, user needs, and get to the root of the reasons for why we're here.

Question

My curiosity leads me to ask many questions that ultimately dig deeper and provide me with a better understanding of the problem, so that I can begin crafting potential solutions. I talk to stakeholders from the business side, as well as end-users, to determine needs and pain points. Along with performing research for user- and competitive-analysis, I also look at industry trends and data.

Ideate

Now that I understand the problem, we can start talking about solutions. Depending on the project, this may include a multitude of exercises, such as card sorting, rapid-fire brainstorming, user flows, or UX workshops. Getting as many ideas out as possible will help narrow in on the right solution for the problem.

Design

At this point, I generally have a good idea of how to tackle the initial problem through design. After gathering inspiration (from many sources, using the client’s brand as a guide), I start with mood boards and wireframes, adding layers of fidelity to create mockups and finally working prototypes.

Iterate

No one gets it right the first time, and revisions are all a part of the process. I take constructive criticism seriously and consider all feedback, balancing critiques from various stakeholders to satisfy requirements.

Validate

After the end product has been finalized and deployed, the job isn't done. Using available data analytics and observational research, can help determine whether the project was successful in providing an effective solution for the initially defined problem, or if additional tweaks need to be made. Understanding that continual iterations are inevitable is key in maintaining a successful product in an evolving world.
