Carbon Accounting

BACKGROUND //
We aim to make the daunting task of accurate carbon accounting easy and intuitive. Through our core Carbon Management and Accounting Platform, we give companies and organizations of all sizes and industries the power to start tracking their carbon footprint and start their decarbonization journey.

As part of the Product Design team, I worked on designing full experiences for different features of our core platform, engaging stakeholders and customers, building and iterating on our Core design system, and ideating and strategizing on the best experiences for a new industry.

PROBLEM //
Using our core platform as a baseline I was tasked with creating a brand new experience targeted to Financial Services (FinServ) customers by combining PowerBI dashboards and native data visualizations specifically geared to these new and current customers.

WHERE WE STARTED //

STRATEGY & SOLUTION //
Working with product management, engineering, and executive leadership I started out learning the differences between Corporate and FinServ customers through initial research and expert interviews. I found FinServ customers want more data and visualizations upfront and to primarily focus on financed emissions with the option to add or view corporate emissions as a secondary action.

FINANCIAL SERVICES PRODUCT FLOW //

I continued by mapping the FinServ user journey and comparing it to the corporate journey adjusting to allow the two pathways to work together but also be distinct as well.

Using our Core design system I put together some preliminary mockups that were circulated to executive and business stakeholders. Based on the feedback I made tweaks and started working closely with engineering and product management to finalize and bring this new FinServ experience to life.

WHAT’S NEXT //
Our next steps are getting in-depth user feedback via monitored tests and discussion guides. The results of these sessions will hopefully help us prioritize where we want to focus on for the next set of UX updates.

In addition to testing of the features as is to determine future iterations, we are also planning new features to compliment and take the user needs one step further.
